I went out in the A group. The track was slowly drying but I have a serious lack of power and the cam cover bolt came out so I lost oil. 22 on the grid. Cr*p!!

Race

After the green flag lap we lined up and a 5 minute board was shown, then the light went green. I had not even put my car into first. Luckily I did not wheel spin but I was still pasted by a couple of people. I lost another couple places into the hairpin and that was it. I just went round and round until another cam cover bolt came out and I had to pull off because the oil was burning on the exhaust. Andy Burgess won with Craig Sheppard second followed by Tony Scarlett.

Qualifying

I went out in the second session which had a drying line. The grid was therefore  made up from one from one session then the fastest from the next and so on. Simon Harvey was behind me but had a few moments when his back of his car started to overtake his front. This resulted in his times improving only slowly due to the soiling in his trousers which made him feel uncomfortable in his car!!!. My lap times fell by at least over a second a lap over the ten laps completed as I got used to the circuit. I finished up 9th on the grid. Steve Powelsland ended up 18th with Simon 20th.

Race

I lined up on the right hand side, which I was pleased with until I realized that the left hand side was much drier. On the start I lost about four places due to the other cars having better grip. I saw Mr. Howlett car doing a Potter. Cars where all trying to miss him so when I arrived I drove straight past into 5th spot. This was short lived as Andy Elliott shot past. On the back straight the red flags came out so we would all have to start again from our original positions.

The second start was a rerun off the first except nobody crashed at Redgate. I was about 15th with Mark Hammersley and Matt Lewis in front of me. They battled with both of them changing places constantly. While they where doing this I tried to sneak past but on the straights they had more power than I did!. Mark tried to pass Matt through McLeans but Matt shut the door, Mark lost momentum So I nipped down his inside as Coppice but in doing so my car pushed wide and touched his bumper putting him into the kitty litter. Luckily he did not get stuck and was soon up behind me. Steve Powelsland Started to come through and on the last lap made a lunge down my inside at McLeans forcing me wide and taking 9th from me.

Paul Taylor won with Tony Scarlett just behind in second. Pete Morgan third and a great drive from Gordon Macmillan for fourth.

Qualifying

The sun was shining which makes a change so we had a dry track. A couple of new boys came out to play but forgot to adjust their mirrors because when I came up behind them they had no idea that I was about to overtake!! The new system of going out in championship positions for qualifying still has not been introduced. Hopefully this will be in place for Brands. I ended up 9th behind Steve Powlesland and Gordon Macmillan who where a couple of thousands of a second faster. Craig Shepherd was the bravest, as he through his XR2i around the circuit and on some laps managed to stay on the black stuff!!!

Race

I was off before the lights had gone green, but braked just as they turned, Bugger Andy Elliott was off ahead as was Roger Ebdon. As the gaggle of cars reached the hair pin Steve P had the inside I was on the outside and Mark Hammersley was left to take to the grass. Steve P retook Roger and was off to catch Paul Mcmillian. He did this but could not get past as Paul's car had a lot of grunt. Steve's car has about 135bhp so what has Paul's got?

I pulled out a four car gap on Mark but over the last few laps he was slowly catching me. These XR2's are getting faster and faster. I thought the Peugeot's had power but the top four XR2's seem to match them. This is true as Pete Morgan took the lap record in a very impressive time nearly two seconds faster than Carvell's old lap record!

Craig finished first with Pete just behind and Tony (I've got too much money) Scarlett third. Gordon in a car that looks like mine( battered that is) was fourth         again.

Brands is next, Steve P says we need to find another 15bhp to stay with the top three. Does anybody know if Nitrous is available as pump fuel?

Changing your diff gives you 2 seconds a lap. Is this true? If so is it legal?

Qualifying

Crap.... car is very under powered. Only qualified for the W**nkers race.

Race

A fair start by me with James Marshall spinning his wheels in front of me. As we left the line I could only stay 4th as I had no power on the incline of Paddock Hill. James took the racing line around Druids so I shot up his inside to take the corner and as we came down to Graham Hill Bend I did the same to Rhys Heke. Mark Alden had also gone by this time and I found myself in the lead with only half a lap completed.

While James and Paul McCormick battled foe second place I pulled a little lead but it was short lived as they soon started to catch me. We had completed about five laps when the black and yellow quartered flag came out as I crossed the start finish line. James and Paul had not seen this and shot past still racing and only realized this as they approached Druids. I overtook them after Graham Hill Bend and lead them round for two laps while the obstruction was removed.

When we got the green flag I held onto the lead for another couple of laps, but with little power James, Rhys and Paul overtook me. Tim Harradine made a late charge and I crossed the line two hundreds of a second in front of him. A good race very little damage to any of the cars.

B RACE

On the start everybody piled down Paddock with Simon Harvey being hit which resulted in him spinning. As the pack tried to miss him Steve Groom in his newly re-shelled car had no where to go and collided head on. Dan Adderley then ran into the back of Steve's car and to finish it off Mr. Skittle or Mr. Tibbs as he is also known got a half strike by hitting them all!!!!!. The race was red flagged as Steve bruised his finger or something. The ambulance had the take poor old Steve to the medical centre as he was in so much pain. I think it was his pride that was hurting and had nothing to do with the crash. I had spoke to Steve on Monday 29th where he explained that his bum is hurting a lot, I put this down to his wife kicking his arse for crashing his newly built car!!!

The race was restarted and Paul Mcmillan was in the lead. Gareth Wright was in hot pursuit and it was not long before he past Paul. I must say Gareth drove a superb race to win and after seeing a quite a few of his races he didn't even hit anybody (this must be a record). Paul held of Carl Townend while Dan Neil fought Mark Hammersley for 5th and sixth. Roger Ebdon got excluded for ride height infringement which he was warned about before. The club has now endorsed his license and will do so to anybody failing this all any other technical infringement.

A RACE

By the time this race had come I was long ready to go home as I was in the W**nkers race at 2 o'clock but I stayed to watch a pretty boring race by Stock hatch means. Craig Shepherd took the lead early on with Tony Scarlett hot in pursuit. Steve Powelsland held third until he missed a gear and let Pete Morgan through. Andy Burgess had a good race starting 11th and finishing 5th. Andy Elliott had a big wiggle on through Graham Hill Bend dropping three or four places. Mark Hammersley was chased from start to finish by Dan Neil who won the biggest balls competition for out braking any body he came across in the race. John Waples played with Tony Taylor for a couple of laps and from where I was sitting I don't think they even exchanged paint. Bringing up the rear was Paul Sheehan who used to curse the 106's as they pasted him last year and now curses the 106 he is driving this year!

That's it for a while, I might be out at Snetterton to P*ss you all off.

Qualifying

Dave Wright and myself made a lot of changes to Dan Neil's car, with a new set up on his suspension. This gave Dan more drivability which we hoped would see him further up the grid. Tony Scarlet and Pete Morgan put in some very quick laps to get them selves on the front row, Dan Neil took it steady finishing up 15th, Gordon Macmillan made a school boy error and forgot to put any fuel in. Luckily he managed to get a few laps in before the fuel surge and was 25th. Richard Kingsnorth did 1 lap and blew his new engine.

B Race

With the top 14 cars going straight through into the A race Dan Neil was on pole for the B. Matt Lewis was second on the grid and got a good start, but against the Peugeot's power he lost out into Charlies. Dan then lead the pack around but was soon disappearing into the distance with a 10 second lead by the end of the race. Gordon made the most progress coming through the field to finish 3rd.

A Race

On the start Kay parked his stricken XR2 near the hairpin. This brought out the yellow and black quartered flag, but the marshals where late in waving this and Dan shot past about seven cars on the approach into the hairpin even managing to clip a few on the way. He must have thought all his Christmases had come at once, but as he went up to Charlies he realized what was going on and yielded to the cars he had overtaken. The following lap the lights went green again with Dan out braking a few cars into the hairpin. Tony Scarlett cocked up the hairpin and had to rejoin as Dan was going past he later had to pull off with a puncture. Dan soon came through the field and was behind Paul Mcmillan. He followed Paul for two laps then tried to out brake him into the hairpin. Paul saw what he was doing and braked late himself. Dan missed the apex by 6 to 8 feet but was starting to turn when Paul had already turned and hit Dan's rear quarter spinning him down towards the start/finish straight. The marshal held Dan there until everybody had gone past, so he was dog last. Steve P gear linkage fell off and was stuck in third which meant Dan didn't finish last as Steve had to nurse his car around to get some championship points.

The race was won by Pete Morgan followed by a very impressive (and VERY LOUD) drive from Glenn Stokes. They say Nitrous makes loud bangs don't they Glenn. Third was Hilary Howlett.

After the race they stripped Pete's and Tony's car and nothing was found.

Conclusion

As we all know the top four or five cars are in a league of there own. They have spent time and money honing there cars to a level which most of us can not afford. Stock Hatch racing which used to be a cheap way into Motorsport has now become to expensive to compete competitively for most racers.

Race 1( "C" race)

Gordon Macmillan lead this race until John Waples did his ramp roll over which stopped the race. On the restart Simon Harvey disappeared into the distance as Gordon 's car broke down, followed by Richard Kingsnorth over ten seconds behind. Simon was delighted with his win until we kindly reminded him it was the Total W*nkers race ( C Race) and not even just the W*nkers race which is known by the club as the B race. Of course I would not be so rude and had no part in this conversation!!!!!!!!

Race 1( "B" race)

With the top 8 cars going through into the A race, Chris ball was on pole followed by Dan Neil in the Winkers race. I must stop calling this race this because someone might get upset. No b*llocks, its the Winkers race. On the start Dan stormed into the lead followed by Pete Morgan who chased him to the finish. Pete tried every thing to pass Dan but Dan defended like the Brazilian defense and nothing was going to get past him. Third was Matt Lewis who had lots of different paint on his car, he says its where other drivers knock into him but poor old Matt has not got the budget to replace the mirrors on his car so be careful if you pass him as you might find yourself on the grass!!!!!

Race 1( "A" race)

Paul Taylor got a great start to lead from the off followed by Tony Scarlett. After about 8 laps Paul's car sounded sick but he still remained at the front. Into the last three laps Paul's car was very sick and in the last lap the top five all bunched up. Coming down to Paddock for the last time Paul was frantically trying to hold the pack off but as the went through Paddock bend 4 abreast Tony took the win followed by Craig Shepherd, Glen Stokes, Alan Thorndyke and the Gutted Paul Taylor.

Race 2( "C" race)

Missed this race as I was busy arguing with the Scrutineers over Dan's car. Sorted in the end, much to the horror of Paul Mcmillian. Paul has asked for people not to lean against his car as they may fall through as he has not got much door frame left after he needed to lighten his car.

Race 2( "B" race)

We would like to say a big thank you to Glen Stokes for his help in qualifying. We know he must feel used by the way Dan used him to tow him around the circuit but he has got his revenge because driving so close to the rear end of his car has now deafened Dan. Not to say Glen's car is noisy but every time he went past the spectators ducked because they thought a jumbo was about to land.

Carl Townsend was on pole but soon lost out as Dan pasted him. Gareth Wright had a stormer to follow Dan to the finish line with Craig Sheppard 3rd.

Race 2( "A" race)

On the start Paul Taylor shot into the lead followed by Dan. Tony Scarlett slid into the side of Dan pushing him wide allowing four other car to pass him. Hilary Howlett took second with Tony third. A crash involving Gary Parkes and Dave Balding ending with the red flags out as Dave's car crashed into the tyre wall.

On the restart Dan managed to get up to 5th just behind Glen. Glen held Dan of lap after lap until Glen made a mistake at Devil's Elbow and Dan out dragged him at the hair pin.

1st was Paul Taylor, 2nd was Hilary, 3rd Tony, 4th Dan, 5th Glen

Tony Scarlett has now extended his lead in the Championship. Pete Morgan had a disappointing weekend and must be looking forward to coming out in his new car.

B Race

Dave Balding made all the running for the first part of the race until Dan Adderley came from 32nd on the grid to win by 4 seconds. A great drive and fastest lap ( 1.16.80) but way short in lap times of the A race boys. A pink car came third and I think nobody wanted to get near this car because it looks so girlish. Somebody told me the pink car was a Nova and the driver had his baseball cap on ( back to front of course )!!!

A Race

Paul Taylor led from the off until half way through the race he had brake problems and took himself into the kitty litter. Pete Felix then took over the lead but slowed down the back straight leaving Glen Stokes to go through. Dan Neil got into 4th but was turned sideways by Pete Morgan who was on a charge to catch Tony Scarlett. Dan stayed in 5th to the line followed by Gordon Macmillan.

Once again Mr Pussy/ oops Dave Balding top up the lead only to have his arse whooped again. He retired with the shame!!. I am sure that pink car was up there somewhere. Wayne Bailey took the win just holding off Jim Musker from Steve Ferns.

A Race

Andy Burgess fought with Pete Felix tooth and nail to the finish with Andy taking the win by the smallest margin. My lack of power showed up as the race unfolded with my car dropping from 15th to 24th by the end of the race. The car also had little brakes so I had to rely on the gearbox to slow myself down. Jon McNiff qualified 11th in his first race in two years. He had a good race but dropped a couple of places to finish 14th. That will teach him for being the shaved stunner of the pack!. Gordon MacMillan finished 5th with a impressive time to put him 2nd on the grid for tomorrows race.

Gary Parkes stormed through the field after starting last to finish 6th. James Marshall took 3rd in his XR2i, next was the girly pink Nova ( no names as to protect the innocent) and the winner was Phil Smith in another Nova. Mr P**s flaps our genuine fanny looking guy Dave Balding had another retirement, poor chap.

Here's Dave without his helmet on!!

Is it me or does he look like a pussy or not!

A Race

Gordon MacMillan Took the lead and pulled out a 2 second gap. He raced through to lap 5 when he missed a gear on the back straight and watched as Pete Felix and Tony Scarlett went past. Gordon stayed in 3rd with Pete Morgan on his tail. The four cars then pulled away from the rest of the pack to finish 10 seconds ahead of them. Dan Adderley Finish 15th in Simon Harvey's car, what's more he had 10th fastest time. I started 30th and had not cured my brake problem. I got a good start and pasted Mark Rodway who missed a gear. I soon over took a few more cars after I had advanced my timing after the first race. This seemed to give me a little bit more power which you need at Snetterton. I caught Martin Boon and so did Mark. We then spent the next 6 or 7 laps racing wheel to wheel in with Mark getting through first and Martin having a half spin letting me chase after Mark. I caught Mark but the chequered flag was out. A great race which I thoroughly enjoyed. Jon McNiff had a different race though, he clashed with a couple of drivers and had a spin. He finished 23rd and got his hand slapped by the clerk of the course. tut tut.

Don't remember who won and 750mc have not posted the results on there web page. I do remember the XR2 who forgot to brake when he lost it through Goram. He continued at full throttle on to the in field demolished a fence and gate and ended up very close to the spectators. Very entertaining.

A Race

I got a good start taking John Waples and Richard Kingsnorth straight through the middle, I then took a bunch of cars down the back straight and hit Charles Cozens rear end when he missed a gear as we went through the bomb hole. This was to be in vain as our very girly pink car crashed causing a red flag.

On the restart John and Richard new what I was going to do so they shut the door and I found myself dropping places on the 1st lap. On the second lap I hit the oil from the crash on the exit of Goram which meant I missed the chicane. I rejoined up the grid, not wanting to gain places illegally I held me hand up and let all the field through. I heard that another person did the same but did not yield to the other competitors. I ask you , some people hey.

Tony Scarlett won followed by Pete Morgan and Andy Burgess. Both Pete and Andy where later excluded for technical irregularities. This promoted Gordon MacMillan to 2nd and Pete Felix to third.

Tony Scarlett has now won the 2002 championship, Pete Morgan has dropped to third having to carry a 0 points as one of his scores.

The last race is at Mallory in October for the final placings.

Great driving standards in p***ing rain, I don't think any body touched. Tony Scarlett lead from the off and was never challenged. Pete Felix came second with Pete Morgan third. Phil Smith had a stormer coming through the pack to finish 4th. Fair play to the guy, he drove right around the outside of every one who he came across. Special mention to the gray Metro driver, very entertaining drive. I think he spent most of his race looking out of the side windows as he was completely sideways on every corner and did not fall off.
